Aerospace Design Lab
Advanced Aerodynamics Construction-New for 2012!
Entering Grades 6-8
Full Day Only-Includes Field Trip
Explore the world of the aircraft designer! Complete a series of experiments in aerodynamics using lift devices, variable-pitch propellers and more. Master the forces of flight and circuit electricity to build a sophisticated model airplane, electric-powered hovercraft, and solar-powered car. Fly advanced and experimental airplanes, helicopters and sailplanes in the flight simulators and visit the NASA Ames Research Center for an in-depth investigation of lift, thrust, weight and drag inside a historic wind tunnel. Combine it all to take on a sophisticated design challenge and build a device able to complete the required mission in a thrilling finale to an adventure in engineering.
