Big Week: Six Days That Changed the Course of World War II

By Bill Yenne
Presentation and Book Signing
Saturday April 13, 11AM

It was not so much a turning point as it was a tipping point, a moment of critical mass after which, nothing was as it had been before. The last week of February 1944 marked the tipping point for the economy, the war making capacity, and the air force of the Third Reich. The critical mass that was achieved that week came in the number of heavy bombers which comprised the strategic airpower of the USAAF Eighth Air Force. Between February 20 and 25, the Eighth Air Force began running massive raids, larger than anything that had come before, against the economic heart of Hitler's Germany. It was a battle of epic proportions on a three dimensional battlefield that changed the course of the war, and made the Normandy landings of June 1944 possible.

"Well-written and fast-paced, this will be compelling to specialists and general readers alike." - Kirkus Reviews
