Full Day Only - Includes Field Trip
Discover the amazing world of flight test in a wide-ranging aviation adventure! Follow in the footsteps of the first scientific test pilots, Wilbur and Orville Wright, and learn how professional test pilots evaluate and improve new or modified aircraft designs. Take to the flight simulators to explore the envelope in a variety of different aircraft, from helicopters and sailplanes to commercial airliners and supersonic research jets. Build detailed models of some of the world's most remarkable aircraft while taking behind-the-scenes peeks at the remarkable artifacts held in the Museum's collection.
Meet experimental aircraft pilots and get an up-close experience with aircraft of their own construction. Complete a challenging set of flight simulation exercises, ranging from basic private pilot maneuvers to ILS landings at night in bad weather. Take a field trip to San Francisco International Airport to learn the history of air transport in the Bay Area, visit the Emergency Operations and Noise Abatement Centers, and take an exhilarating bus tour around the runways with SFO personnel for an exceptional close-up look at modern airliners and airline operations.
