Camp Assistant
Seasonal Part Time

Join us to work with kids and aircraft this summer at the Hiller Aviation Museum! Our Aviation Camp staff helps elementary-aged campers to build and fly model aircraft, launch rockets, complete flight simulation missions, conduct flight-related science experiments and more while working behind-the-scenes at a unique Museum located at one of California’s busiest small airports.
Camp Assistants are responsible for supporting Aviation Camp in all capacities. Assistants supervise elementary school-aged campers during sign-in, sign-out and break times and coordinate aviation-themed games during breaks. Assistants also prepare materials and work directly with instructors as needed during hands-on projects and activities, and provide supervision to campers signed in or out during extended camp hours in the morning and afternoon..
Assistants must have experience working with elementary-aged children and possess a high school diploma no later than June 2010. College credits, familiarity with science and aviation or previous experience at the Museum are a plus. Assistants must be available to work at least 8 of the 10 weeks scheduled for Aviation Camp (see schedule at http://www.hiller.org/daycamp-schedule.shtml). Availability for all 10 weeks is preferred.
Assistant pay is $9 to $10/hr. Hours may vary from 30 hr/wk to 40 hr/wk during Aviation Camp based on enrollment, with shifts beginning between 7:30 AM and 12 PM and ending between 1 PM and 5 PM. Mandatory paid training sessions will be held at the Museum on Saturday, June 5th, and at an offsite location on Friday, June 11th.
