Join us to work with kids and aircraft at the Hiller Aviation Museum!
Instructors in the Education Department work with school field trips, Saturday Scout groups, offsite after-school programs and holiday day camps. Activities are conducted with elementary and middle-school students to build and fly model aircraft, explore aviation weather, complete flight simulation missions, complete Merit Badge or patch requirements and more while working behind-the-scenes at a unique museum located at one of California’s busiest small airports.
Instructors must have experience working with elementary or middle-school children and good classroom management skills. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with hands-on science teaching experience. Availability for four weekday morning shifts per week (typically 9:30 AM—12:30 PM) and two Saturday shifts per month is required. Ability to work afternoon programs at school sites in Santa Clara and San Mateo County is highly desirable. Full time hours are available during the Aviation Camp season, including November and December.
Hours and Pay
Instructor pay range is $15 to $17/hr depending on experience. Hours will vary based on field trip and Scout bookings and staff availability. Instructors should expect 1-4 field trip assignments (2-3 hours each) per week and 1-3 Saturday Scout assignments (4-8 hours each) per month.
