Work with kids and aircraft at the Hiller Aviation Museum!
Our Education staff works with field trip groups from schools across the Bay Area, conducting a variety of hands-on programs related to aviation and weather. All programs are held at the Hiller Aviation Museum adjacent to San Carlos Airport, one of the countryís busiest general aviation fields. Popular programs include building and flying gliders, exploring the water cycle and cloud types, and introductory flight simulation in a classroom lab setting.
Field trip instructors must have experience working with elementary-aged children and good classroom management skills. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor¬ís degree with hands-on science teaching experience. Knowledge in the aviation field is preferred but not required. Instructors must be available to work at least four weekday mornings per week, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm; three weekday afternoon shifts per week, 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm; and two Saturdays per month, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
Instructor pay range is $14 to $17/hr depending on experience. Field trip instructors can expect to work 5-10 hours per week depending on availability and field trip bookings, plus several 8-hour Saturday assignments per month. Instructors may also apply for seasonal full time teaching positions available during Aviation Camp (February 17th-21st, April 14th-18th, and June 2nd-September 5th).
