Camp Skyhawk 2010
Camp Skyhawk is a special week-long experience in aviation and space exploration for campers entering Grades 6-8 in Fall 2010. Previous Aviation Camp experience is not required, only an enthusiasm for things that fly. Camp Skyhawk includes advanced adventures in flight with special features just for middle school students:
Flight Simulation
Enter the flight simulation lab twice daily to undertake challenging airborne adventures including multi-engine operations, simulated airline flights and air racing. Each camper flies an individual simulator.
Rocketry
Take model rocketry to the next level by building and launching an QEZ Boost Glider rocket. After blasting to altitudes approaching 500’, the glider separates from its rocket booster and soars safely back to Earth.
Aviation Activities
Explore the science of flight with in-depth aerodynamics investigations. Assemble and fly a high performance model airplane, plan a flight using actual VFR charts and live weather information and even join an air traffic control simulation.
Offsite Field Trip
All campers will participate in a Friday field trip to an offsite location to launch their model rockets. Following the launch, campers will visit the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda and participate in an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour just for Skyhawks.
Camp Skyhawk enrollment is Full Day (9 AM to 4 PM), and all campers will participate in the Friday field trip. Three different sessions are available:
| Session | Dates | Available Full Day |
| Session 4-S | July 5th-9th | FULL |
