Aviation Day Camp 2016

Aviation Camp is a week-long program in aviation and aerospace for children in Grades K-8 during Fall 2016. High school students aged 14-17 as of June 1, 2016 may apply as Aviation Camp Volunteers .

Children entering kindergarten in Fall 2016 and who will be 5 years old no later than June 1st, 2016 (February 1st, 2016 for winter/spring sessions) may register for all Elementary Camp topics except for Air & Space. Campers must be 6 years old and entering 1st grade to enroll in any Air & Space program, and 10 years old entering 5th grade to enroll in any Advanced Camp topic.




Topics

Seven different topics are offered for Summer 2016, with two additional winter/spring topics. All camp programs include:
  • Hands-on Activities and Flying Models
  • Flight Simulation Sessions
  • Aircraft Demonstrations
  • Behind-the-Scenes Museum Gallery Explorations
  • Aviation-Themed Games
  • And Much, Much More!

Elementary Camp Topics, Grades K-5

Advanced Camp Topics, Grades 5-8


Full Day and Half Day Schedules

Children are divided into age-appropriate groups. Two different schedules are available:
    Full Day 9 AM to 4 PM
    Half Day 9 AM to 12 PM*
    *Half Day only available for Extreme Flight topic, which may also be taken for the Full Day. See camp topic schedule for details.

Full Day campers in elementary programs (Air & Space,Drone Ranger, Extreme Flight,Flight Science Lab and Test Pilot School) participate in four major projects and two free choice activities daily. Half Day campers (Extreme Flight only) have two major projects and one free choice activity each day.

Full Day campers in Advanced Camp programs (Robo Mechanic, Spaceflight Tech and X-Plane Pilot) participate in six major projects daily. Most Advanced Camp flight simulation sessions are flown single-pilot, and all Advanced Camp programs include an offsite field trip. Half Day is not available for these camp topics.

Extended Hours

Extended Hours are available for an additional fee.
AM Extended hours are 8 AM 8:50 AM.
PM Extended Hours in camp programs September May are 4 PM 5 PM (5:30 PM June August).

Parental Permissions

Parents with campers already enrolled in a camp program who have not enrolled online may download the Camper Information and Medical Form and fill it out prior to the camp start date. Bring this form with you on the first day of camp. DO NOT MAIL THE FORM TO THE MUSEUM AHEAD OF TIME.
