Hours of operation:

10am-5pm, 7 days a week

Occasionally, hours are extended to allow for special activities, or the museum is closed to the public to accommodate scheduled events.  Please see our online schedule or call the museum to confirm a specific date.

Closed Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Group Visits:

Discounted pricing is available for groups of 12 or more visiting the Museum together. Advance reservations must be requested and confirmed at least two weeks prior to the visit, and certain restrictions apply. Availability permitting, a guided tour is provided at no additional charge to groups visiting with an advance reservation.

School Groups of students Pre-K through 12th grade must make a field trip reservation request online or by phone.

Scout Groups, including Boy and Girl Scouts of all ages, may also request a field trip reservation subject to special conditions. Separate Badge and Patch Programs are also offered periodically throughout the year.

Adult groups, including college/university classes and senior groups, may make a Public Tour Request. All eligible participants in the group will receive a $1 discount off the regular admission price for adults, children or seniors.

The Hiller Aviation Museum is centrally located in the San Francisco Bay Area at the San Carlos Airport.

From San Francisco: Take Hwy 101 south to Holly Street/Redwood Shores Pkwy exit. Go east onto Redwood Shores Pkwy.  Turn right onto Airport Road.  Turn right onto Skyway Road.

From San Jose: Take Hwy 101 north to Holly Street/Redwood Shores Pkwy exit. Go east onto Redwood Shores Pkwy.  Turn right onto Airport Road.  Turn right onto Skyway Road.

By Train: Train users must walk from Caltrain Station to Hiller Aviation Museum (approximately 1 mile). Take Caltrain to the San Carlos station. Walk along the station generally northward toward San Francisco (parallel to the tracks).  Turn Right at the Holly Street crossing and continue eastward along the road crossing over Hwy 101 (You can see the museum on your right from the overcrossing).  Turn right at Airport Road and continue right onto Skyway Road continuing to the museum. Schedules are available online from Caltrain.

By Bus: SamTrans provides bus service over the El Camino corridor with connections to other transit systems throughout the bay area.  Take any bus to the San Carlos stop (very near the CalTrain train station) and follow the directions listed above for train users.  Schedules and system information is available from SamTrans. There is no direct bus service to the airport.

Flying to the Museum:

After clearing the runway contact the Ground Frequency and ask for the Northwest Transient parking. There is a walkthrough gate that leads out behind the Izzy's restaurant. It is a short walk past the Fairfield Hotel to the museum. (Remember the gate code).

If you park at the airport terminal, proceed into the airport office. The airport may provide a shuttle or you can call the museum. Also, it is a short walk around the outside airport perimeter.

The museum is wheelchair accessible. You can pick up and drop off passengers at the main entrance to the museum.
