Scout Saturday

On Scout Saturday, Boy and Girl Scouts of all age levels, as well as Explorer Scouts and American Heritage Girls in uniform, are admitted to the Hiller Aviation Museum at no charge.  Adult leaders in uniform, or Girl Scout leaders with appropriate ID, will also be admitted at no charge.  Siblings, parents, friends and other family members are welcome to attend at the regular admission price.

Scouts visiting on Scout Saturday may explore the Hiller Aviation Museum’s expansive aircraft collection, including over 40 different historic aircraft. 

Flight simulation, Invention Lab and Drone Plex activities (some require an extra fee) are also offered. Click here for more information.

Lt. Col. (Retired) William Wardwell

Bill Wardwell grew up as a Boy Scout with Troop 30 in Muncie, Indiana, ultimately achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and joining the Order of the Arrow.  Bill went on to a career as a pilot in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel.  Join Lt. Col. Wardwell to hear how his experiences as Scout prepared him for the challenges of flying the supersonic T-38 Talon and enormous C-141 Starlifter through his pilot training and to destinations and deployments throughout the world.

Gail Turner Bauer, Experimental Aircraft Builder

Girl Scout Gail Turner Bauer grew up raising horses and learned that she could do anything if she put her mind to it—even building airplanes!  Learn how Gail earned her pilots certificate, built and flew not one but two aircraft on her own, and proceeded on a grand cross-country flight to a gathering of the Experimental Aircraft Association halfway across the continent to showcase her creations.
