The Michael King Smith Research Library contains more than 5,400 published aviation-related books and a large and varied collection of aviation magazines. The Library’s collection is open to both researchers and the general public.
The Library, located within the Hiller Aviation Museum, is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 AM to 3 PM and on select Saturdays (call the Library to confirm weekend availability). Library entry is included with Museum admission. If you are unable to visit the Museum during its open hours, ask for a 'rain check' and come back when you can.
Titles in the Library’s collection include both technical works and aviation-related fiction and nonfiction books. Click below to view recent issues of Interesting Publications, a semi-annual collection of book reviews and recommendations from Library volunteers and Museum staff and docents.
The Library hosts the Museum's Soar With Books pre-school reading program on select Saturdays and Wednesdays. Download the current flyer or check the Upcoming Events calendar for the latest information. Starting in March 2013, the San Mateo County Bookmobile will be onsite for select Soar With Books programs. Any San Mateo County resident may request and receive a library card and check out books, which may then be return to any participating San Mateo County Library branch. See flyer for Bookmobile schedule.
