Aviation Merit Badge
Scouts enrolled in an upcoming Aviation Merit Badge program may wish to review the Aviation Badge Worksheet prior to their program date. Scouts enrolled in an upcoming Weather Merit Badge program are encouraged to review the Weather Merit Badge Worksheet prior to the program.
Weather Merit Badge
Weather Badge applicants must use a weather station constructed during the program to complete seven consecutive days of weather observation. These observations may be recorded on the Weather Observation Log and compared to observations reported on television, radio or internet sources such as the Hiller Aviation Museum's live weather data. Completed logs may be returned by mail to the Museum together with each Scout's Blue Card to complete Requirement 9A and receive the final endorsement for the Weather Merit Badge.
Astronomy Merit Badge
Astronomy Badge applicants will complete most requirements during the one-day program at the Museum, but three requirements must be conducted on one or more clear nights after the program is completed.† Requirements #4 (star and constellation identification) and #6B (Moon observations) will be rehearsed in the Museumís Starlab planetarium but must be completed afterwards in the real sky.† A small telescope suitable for satisfying Requirement #5D will be constructed during the program, but the actual observation must be completed afterwards in the real sky.† The Astronomy Observation Form will be distributed at the end of the program and must be completed in advance.† A parent or Scout leader must endorse the form, which may be returned to the Museum along with the Scoutís blue card to receive a full endorsement from one of the Museumís Astronomy Merit Badge Counselors.
