Flying the U2 Dragonlady and the T-38 Talon
Lt Col Jon "Huggy" Huggins
Saturday Feb. 23 11AM
Lt Col Jon "Huggy" Huggins is U-2 and T-38 Instructor Pilot at Beale AFB, north of Sacramento.
He began flying the U-2 in 1989, after a tour as a T-38 Instructor Pilot in Texas.
Over the past 23 years, he has had the opportunity to fly the U-2 in Desert Storm, Kosovo, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom.
He is one of seven Interview Pilots in the all-volunteer program, and flies the unusual 2-seat variant of the U-2.
In early 2011, Huggy left the U-2 program to fly the AF's newest Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft, the MC-12. Based off of the Beechcraft King Air 350, these aircraft are deployed to Afghanistan. After 1 year in the MC-12 program, Lt Col Huggins returned to the U-2 and T-38.
