  Our Mission

We use aviation as a gateway for people to embrace adventure and innovation while using tools of science to explore how the physical world works and how the dream of flight is made into reality.

“I just wanted to thank you for the amazing experience you provided me with this summer. I learned so many new things about aviation and met a lot of incredible people…I had such an unbelievable summer, and I know I made the right choice choosing to work at Hiller.”
         - Sarah Farney, Teen Volunteer

Become a museum volunteer...Give the gift of time.

The mission of Volunteer Services at the Hiller Aviation Museum is to foster knowledge about the history of aviation and the future of flight. With even a small commitment of time, you can play an integral role in the fulfillment of this mission. It's a great opportunity to share your excitement and enthusiasm about aviation, while making a positive impact in the community.

Volunteers enjoy:

* Inspiring young people and the general public about the science of aviation
* Developing a high level of aviation knowledge and expertise
* Access to historical information and exhibits
* An opportunity to develop new skills
* A chance to make new friends

How to Volunteer:

Adults - Stop by the museum and fill out a Volunteer Application Form. Download our Volunteer Application. After submitting the application, you'll be contacted by phone to schedule an interview. Interested candidates will attend a volunteer orientation, then train with an active volunteer.

Teens - Students who are at least 14 years old, as of June 1st 2015, are eligible to join the Hiller Aviation Museum teen volunteer squad. Volunteers assist with the Museum's Aviation Camp program and other special events. Download our Teen Volunteer Announcement for more information, and fill out the Teen Volunteer Application to apply today.

Aero Design Challenge (October 24th, 2015):  Scientists and engineers are welcome to join the Aero Design Challenge as a mentor, providing insights and guidance to a small team of students Grades 4-8.  Aero Design Challenge volunteers must complete a short online training program and commit to at least one 3-hour shift on Saturday, October 24th.  Download and complete the Volunteer Application. Under "INTEREST" check off “Special Event”, and write “Aero Design Challenge 10/24” adjacent to the AVAILABILITY table.  The Museum’s Volunteer Coordinator will contact you with additional information.

Based upon your interests, availability, and the museum's needs, a volunteer schedule will then be developed. Volunteers who can work a minimum of one four-hour shift a week are especially desirable. We look forward to receiving your application
