Aviation Day Camp

Spaceflight Tech

Advanced Rocketry and Space Science

Entering Grades 5-8
Full Day Only – Includes Field Trip

Program Dates:

June 10-14, 2019
July 15-19, 2019
August 5-9, 2019

Reach for the stars with the highest-flying Aviation Camp of all! Design a rocket using Computer Aided Design software. Print the components using 3D printers, then prepare the rocket for flight with a solid-fuel rocket motor and blast each rocket skyward to altitudes approaching 300’. Board the aircraft carrier USS Hornet for a behind-the-scenes look at the recovery ship used for the first astronauts to walk upon the Moon.

Turn Newton’s Third Law on its side by designing, building and racing a rocket car powered by pressurized carbon dioxide! Construct the car chassis for maximum performance and install a small gas cylinder before taking to the test track for side-by-side racing heats with fellow campers.

Explore destinations in our solar system and beyond with a working refractor telescope. Enter the Starlab planetarium to identify star patterns and planets visible for observation, master moon phases and locate stars used for celestial navigation. Use astronomical data to create accurately-shaped asteroid models, analyze real Mars images collected by orbiting spacecraft, fly high performance aircraft in the flight simulators and much more in a journey to infinity and beyond!
