Join the fun at the Hiller Aviation Museum’s annual summer celebration of flight! Local aviation and public safety professionals bring their aircraft and vehicles to the Museum for a special show-and-tell session, while the museum opens the doors of many of its most popular aircraft! Kid-friendly activities abound, including balsa glider construction, paint-a-plane, paper helicopter construction and so much more!

Join a feathered frenzy with the Happy Birds! This elite team of parrots, macaws and cockatoos takes wing for a dazzling performance featuring wild and trained behaviors of all sorts. Arrive early for best seating and take flight on the wild side with these popular parrots and their friends.
These avian performers have been featured on The Tonight Show, Pet Star and The Ellen Show. Their repertoire includes: animal impersonations, singing opera, crying like a baby, and even a song called Clementine!
You will see fantastic birds showing incredible skills, including:

Starlab Planetarium Shows
The giant inflatable Starlab dome provides a remarkable re-creation of the stars, planets and constellations visible in the night sky. 20 minute members-only presentations are available 10:15 AM – 11:45 AM.

At T-Mo Food Truck, you’re getting big ol’ burgers, crispy chicken wings and fries to curb your cravings on the curb. Each burger takes inspiration from different cities all across America. From the spicy Denver burger topped with provolone cheese, ham, onion, avocado and jalapeno to the Jacksonville burger with jack cheese and mushrooms, each is a surefire way to tantalize your taste buds. But that’s not all. T-Mo Food Truck’s also got gourmet sandwiches, burritos, plates full o’ meat and homemade sides, plus fried chicken wings in a myriad of mouthwatering sauces. Drool-worthy? Absolutely.
Mister Softee sells soft serve ice cream sundaes, soda floats, cones, cups, banana boats, and shakes from a brand new state of the art Ice Cream truck.

Discover the world of rockets!
Bring along a recycled 1- or 2-liter soda bottle or purchase a new water rocket body in the Museum’s Gift Shop ($1.50/bottle) and join the rocket workshop! Use a variety of common craft materials to convert a bottle into a high performance rocket vehicle, then test fly it across the Museum’s Courtyard on a fountain of compressed air and water.
Event is included with Museum admission.
Participants must bring a clean, empty soda bottle (water bottles are not suitable for this activity), or may purchase one in the Museum’s Gift Shop on the day of the event.

Explore the world of rocketry!
Each Air Rocket Blastoff features an introduction to rocketry and Newton’s Third Law of Motion, including an exploration of a real JPL rocket on display at the Hiller Aviation Museum. Following a demonstration, participants construct a high-performance straw rocket, then launch it across the museum with a calibrated burst of air.
Event is included with Museum admission.

Oceánica Ballet presents Horizons, August 19-20 at Hiller Aviation Museum with purchase of museum admission. About Artistic Co-Director Edgar Lepe
Trained in Folklorico Ballet throughout his youth, Edgar Lepe began studying classical ballet in 2008 at the San Francisco Academy of Ballet under the direction of ballet masters Richard Gibson and Zory Karah. Edgar has performed in Mexico and the United States with Collage West Ensemble, Compañia Mexico Danza, Ensembles Ballet Folklorico of San Francisco, as well as Peninsula Ballet Theatre, Presidio Dance Theatre, Bay Pointe Ballet, and Oakland Ballet. Edgar has choreographed for Bay Pointe Ballet, Bay Area Ballet Conservatory, Peninsula Ballet Theatre, and San Jose Dance International. Edgar currently teaches at Bay Area Ballet Conservatory.
About Artistic Co-Director Robert Burns Lowman
Robert Burns Lowman trained at Susan Hayward School of Dancing and holds B.A.s in Dance and Theater & Performance Studies from U.C. Berkeley. He is a recipient of the Mask and Dagger Memorial Prize (2012) and the Rosalyn Schneider Eisner Prize (2013). Robert performed principal roles in Peninsula Ballet Theatre’s Giselle, The Nutcracker, Carmen, and The Chrysalis Project. In addition to performing, Robert directed PBT’s annual Dance Makers choreography showcase from 2016-2019 and was PBT Artistic Assistant from 2018-2020. He currently teaches ballet at Shoreline Dance Academy and Bay Area Ballet Conservatory.

Oceánica Ballet was formed in 2021 to unite people through the shared experience of dance performance as a reflection of our complex and diverse collective humanity. Our mission is to enliven the San Francisco Bay Area cultural landscape by making professional-level ballet performances accessible and relatable to Bay Area audiences. We enrich the artistic careers of locally-based, professionally trained dance artists of diverse ages, races, genders, sexual orientations, and body types.
