Bees, Beetles, and Butterflies: The Science Behind Insect Flight

Local Entomologist, Dr. Stephanie Dole (a.k.a. Beetlelady) will present the science of insect flight. The evolution of flight in insects played a key role in their success and dispersal around the globe.  Insect wings aren’t only for flight either, they can be used to attract mates, warn of defenses, and act as defensive mechanisms. Come see displays of colorful and fascinating insects from around the world and learn about insect flight.

Aviation Chalk Art Experience

Local youth artist Teagan Robertson will be “live chalking” aviation images on the museum’s Compass Rose behind the museum. Pick up some sidewalk chalk and join her! What will you sketch? An airplane, helicopter, balloon, drone, spacecraft, etc.!
