In the first days of World War I, aviation technology was rushed to the battlefield. Inadequately tested, new aircraft designs made their aviators unwitting test pilots with an average life expectancy of less than 6 weeks!
Untamed Skies explores major innovations born of necessity and improved upon over time to produce safer and more capable warplanes. Lightning-fast advancements in materials, science, engines and aeronautical engineering led to designs that proved to be ingeniously creative and outlandishly dangerous – and sometimes both at once! As aircraft improved so too did the weapons and tactics mature, changing the face of warfare forever.
