Ups and Upside Downs of the Airshow Industry

Allen Silver will present a fun and humorous presentation following his career as a professional air show parachutist and wing walker. Over a span of 53+ years Allen as accumulated over 3200 jumps. Allen is a FAA Master Rigger, past Chairman of Parachute Industry Associations Rigging Committee and FAA Designated Parachute Rigger Examiner. He is an instrument rated private pilot with over 1900 flight hours.

ups_and_upside_downs_2_166x158pxThe presentation will cover his career as a parachute rigger showing clips of an actual bailout and test jumping. He will also discuss his career as a wing walker and skydiver and will show portions of the last airshow at Moffett Field as well as video interviews with local TV channels. Allen helped open up the Hiller Aviation Museum on June 5, 1998 by jumping in the American Flag for the flag pole and handing Mr. Stanley Hiller the scissors to cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Allen Silver, an instrument rated pilot with over 1900 hours including 1200 hours in a Marchetti SF-260, owns and operates Silver Parachute Sales & Service, a parachute loft in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been an FAA Master Rigger since 1974 and in 1991 was designated as a Parachute Rigger Examiner, for the FAA. From 1995-2001 and again 2008 to Aug 2009 he was chairman of the Parachute Industry Associations (PIA) Rigging Committee. He has over 50 years experience and more than 3200 jumps as a sport jumper. Over 40 of those years he performed as a professional skydiver.
