Camp Assistant – Full Time / Part Time

Join us to work with kids and aircraft this summer at the Hiller Aviation Museum! Our Aviation Camp staff helps elementary-aged campers to build and fly model aircraft, launch rockets, complete flight simulation missions, conduct flight-related science experiments and more while working behind-the-scenes at a unique Museum located at one of California’s busiest small airports.

Camp Assistants are responsible for supporting Aviation Camp in all capacities. Assistants supervise elementary school-aged campers during sign-in, sign-out and break times and coordinate aviation-themed games during breaks. Assistants also prepare materials and work directly with instructors as needed during hands-on projects and activities.

Assistant starting pay range is $18.00-$20.00/hr based on experience, education and any applicable certifications.

Experience Requirements

Assistants must have experience working with elementary-aged children and possess a high school diploma. An exception: high school students entering their senior year in Fall 2024 will be considered if they have volunteered at the Hiller Aviation Museum previously. College credits, familiarity with science and aviation, or volunteer experience at a museum are a plus.

Assistant positions/shifts vary with enrollment; most assistants should expect to work 5-8 hours per day while Aviation Camp is in session, with occasional opportunities for weekend hours (optional). Most full-time shifts typically last 8 AM – 4:30 PM or 9 AM – 5:30 PM. Half day shifts range from 7:30 AM – 1 PM or 12 PM – 5:30 PM.

Aviation Camp runs June 3 – August 30 with mandatory staff training June 1-2.  Applicants should have availability for at least eight weeks of the summer, or the entire period July 15 – August 16 in order to be considered.

Resumes may be submitted via email at education@hiller.org. Include “Aviation Camp Position” in the subject line.
