Educator – Weekends – Part-Time
Join us to work with kids and aircraft at the Hiller Aviation Museum!
Educators teach hands-on science- and flight-themed lessons to students while working behind-the-scenes at a unique Museum located at one of California’s busiest small airports. The Educator will be primarily responsible for facilitating experiences such as gallery programs and exhibits, Scout programs, educational assemblies, and family events. The position uses teaching and facilitation skills to work both at the museum, and off-site for programming as needed.
Educator positions pay $18.50-$25, depending on experience.
Seeking Educator for BSA Scout Programs
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and engaging staff member to teach introductory Aviation and Weather curriculum to BSA Scouts. BSA Scout programs run approximately twice a month on Saturdays.
Candidates with knowledge in Aviation, Weather, and/or Scouting preferred but not required. Curriculum and training is provided to hired educators.
Please visit our BSA Scouts webpage for dates of Aviation and Weather Merit Badge programs. Candidates should be available for most dates listed to be considered (no more than 4 unavailable dates).
Additional shifts may be available for interested candidates (other programs include Girl Scout program, family events, etc).
Requirements
- Experience working with middle school and/or high school children
- Effective classroom management skills
- Ability to engage and effectively communicate with diverse audiences in a variably-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service, public speaking, and listening skills.
- A high school diploma or equivalent (such as a GED) is required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with science and/or aviation is a plus but not essential—educators comfortable with elementary-aged students can readily learn the aerospace-specific content with the provided curriculum and training.
Working Conditions and Schedule
- This is an on-site role.
- Candidates should be available for most Aviation and Weather program dates (up to 4 unavailable dates allowed), with typical shifts between 7 to 8 hours per day.
- Availability for other weekend programs, weekday programs, and seasonal Aviation Camp is helpful but not required.
