Flight Simulator Instructor – Weekend Part-Time
Overview
Join us to work with families and aircraft at the Hiller Aviation Museum!
The Flight Sim Instructor is responsible for delivering programs and helping operate and maintain the museum’s Flight Sim Zone, primarily on weekends but also during select weekday holiday periods. Employees with more advanced flying skills may also be assigned for operation of the museum’s FMX full-motion flight simulator.
Flight Sim Instructors must be available to work weekend shifts 9:45 AM – 3:15 PM, most Saturdays and Sundays and select holidays. Occasional weekday holiday shifts may also be available but weekday availability is not required.
Flight Sim Instructor starting pay range is $21.00 – $25.00/hr depending on experience, education, and any applicable certifications.
Knowledge of X-Plane 11 and 12 is preferred, but not required. Training is provided to all staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct informal programs in the museum’s Flight Sim Zone and FMX full-motion simulator working with the general public including adults and children, primarily on weekends.
- Maintain hardware and software elements of multiple high-end gaming PC’s and associated flight simulator controls.
- Operate point-of-sale system to sell tickets.
- Coordinate with staff and volunteers in implementing Flight Sim Zone and FMX operations.
- Must be able to work regularly on Saturday or Sunday, or both.
- Maintain effective and positive working relationships with staff, volunteers and members of the Board and interact courteously with Museum guests at all times.
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage volunteers assigned to deliver Flight Sim Zone and FMX programs on weekends. Assists in training of volunteers and staff in Flight Sim Zone and FMX operations as needed.
Requirements
Flight Simulator Instructors must be at least 18 years old and have:
- Experience working with families and children.
- Excellent communications skills, professional demeanor and customer-oriented approach.
- Solid computer skills and familiarity with Flight Simulator products.
- Some knowledge of aviation and an interest in learning about aviation.
- Actual pilot experience a plus, but not required.
