EXAMPLE OF STEM EXPLORERS CURRICULUM
The following curriculum grid provides an overview based on curricula from past years and may not fully reflect the upcoming summer’s complete curriculum. While the core curriculum within each topic remains largely consistent year to year, specific activities may change due to lesson refinement, material availability, or other factors. The purpose of this grid is to provide a general sense of the content offered in our camps.
LESSON |
DESCRIPTION |
| Bee Bots | Practice sequencing, estimation, problem-solving, and more with Bee Bots robots. |
| Bungee Blast Rockets | Witnessed Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion in play with Bungee Blast Rockets. |
| Clouds & Tornadoes | Studied different cloud types, tornado creation, and created tornado tubes. |
| Crystals – Growing | Learned about minerals and crystals and conducted a crystal growing experiment. |
| Drone Plex | Flew a simulated quadcopter in the Drone Plex. |
| Earthquakes | Learned about Earthquake, CA Earthquake history, and designed and build earthquake-proof buildings to resist a earthquake simulator. |
| Flight & Motion | Tested the effects of the four forces of flight on an aircraft by switching out the shape and sizes of the wing. |
| Gliders – Stunt Jet | Learned about glider flight and launched a glider. |
| Helicopter Design Challenge | Participated in a helicopter design challenge to design a paper helicopter that hits the ground last. |
| Hydrophobic | Learned about the properties of water molecules and how hydrophobic materials work. Experimented with hydrophobic materials such as pepper and waterproof paper. |
