Responsibilities

• Manage a team of approximately 20-40 camp staff and 30-50 teen volunteers each week.
• Supports Camp Instructors and serves as a substitute instructor if needed.
• Supports Camp Assistants on breaks and with setting up activities.
• Provide active, on-the-ground monitoring during the summer, combined with structured, consistent feedback to staff.
• Support administrative duties of Camp Director, including creating schedule rosters, maintaining inventory, restocking supplies, preparing materials, and completing other camp-related tasks.
• Addresses behavioral concerns with compassion and applies supportive behavior-guidance strategies when needed.
• Manages camp Lost and Found.
• Participates in camp drop-off, pick-up, and parent/caregiver communication.
• Prepares and distributes clear, timely updates to parents and caregivers
• Works cooperatively to maintain open lines of communication with caregivers, constituents, supervisors, and co-workers.
• Demonstrates professionalism and serves as a positive role model for campers, caregivers, and the public.
• Maintains supplies, equipment, and facilities.
• Attends, supports, and helps facilitate scheduled camp staff training sessions.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements, Skills, Experience, & Education

• Availability to work during the designated seasonal camp sessions between June 1st and September 4th, 2026. (Must be available for at least 9 weeks).
  • Full-time shifts available starting mid-May for summer camp preparations
  • Must be available for Summer Camp Staff Training on June 6th and 7th.
• Must have experience leading staff in an informal education, summer camp, or childhood education setting.
• Bachelor’s degree or some college coursework preferred; a degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in teaching or child-focused roles, with experience supporting children ages 5-12.
• Familiarity with aviation is a plus but not essential—good teachers comfortable teaching elementary science can readily learn the aerospace-specific content with the provided curriculum and training.
• Instructors must be at least 18 years old.
• Demonstrates the ability to manage classrooms or lead youth groups effectively.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with campers, caregivers, colleagues, and families from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Works collaboratively as part of a team while following direction effectively.
• Takes initiative and works independently when needed.
• Exhibits a mature, reliable, and hard-working attitude.
• Willing to go above and beyond to support campers, staff, and camp operations.
• Uses technology to communicate effectively with camp families, including sending and responding to emails and texts, sharing updates, and posting photos.

Shifts

• 40-hour workweeks, Monday through Friday
• Shifts fall between 8 AM and 5:30 PM. Shifts are 8 working hours and a 1-hour unpaid-lunch.
• Mandatory training on June 6 and 7 from 8 AM to 5 PM both days
