Weekend Programs Lead

The Weekend Program Lead is responsible for overseeing onsite operations, supervising part-time staff, and facilitating educational engagement during peak weekend hours. This role serves as the primary point of contact for visitors and staff when senior museum leadership is unavailable.

Program Lead starting pay range is $23.75 – $26.00/hr depending on experience, education, and any applicable certifications. The Program Lead reports to the Director of Education & Volunteers.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate ticketing system (Square, TAM) to process sales for general admission, group tours, programs, and memberships
  • Orient visitors to specific onsite activities, resources, and accommodations
  • Submit daily reports
  • Complete Incident Reports when necessary
  • Handle customer concerns and know when and to whom to escalate issues
  • Understand and show ability to follow emergency procedures
  • Train and supervise Museum volunteers
  • Oversee weekend part-time Education staff
  • Attend program planning meeting with Director & VP of Education
  • Conduct daily opening or closing procedures as assigned
  • Refill gallery supplies, look for any issues with exhibits and facilities
  • Adhere to the museum’s uniform policy and maintain a professional, neat appearance

 Qualifications:

  • Commitment to providing an exceptional level of customer service to all visitors
  • Ability to get along with others, work as a team, and provide team leadership
  • The ability to lead with limited direction
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills
  • Cash handling experience and knowledge of systems
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Open availability Saturdays and Sundays. Shifts are 8-4:30 or 8:45-5:15 depending on if working opening or closing.
    • A 4-hour prep period during the week is allotted to prepare for the weekend.


Experience Requirements

Program Leads must be at least 18 years old. Familiarity with aviation is a plus but not essential.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aerospace, Engineering, or a related science field is preferred. 

Experience: At least 2–3 years of experience in a museum or educational setting, with previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
