Program Manager – Part Time

The Hiller Aviation Museum, one of the most unique destinations on the San Francisco peninsula, is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the team as a half time weekend Program Manager, 20 hours per week.

These are the kinds of topics and hobbies the Hiller Aviation Museum makes part of regular public programs and we need creative people interested in these subjects to make them come alive for museum visitors, primarily on weekends.

Reporting to the Vice President of Education and Public Programs, the Program Manager is responsible for directing and implementing a wide range of formal and informal programs that exploit the exhibits and programmatic resources of the Hiller Aviation Museum to their fullest advantage for the benefit of museum visitors, primarily on weekends.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and delivering content in the Museum’s Invention Lab, Drone Plex and Starlab among other exhibit locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement programs for weekend general public audiences, including special events and unique collaborative programs that utilize the museum’s Invention Lab, Drone Plex, aircraft, exhibits and related objects and resources.
  • Work collaboratively and creatively with Education staff in the design and development of programs, workshops and activities, with related curricula, that facilitate visitor experiences in the museum exhibit gallery.
  • Supervise the training and activities of staff and volunteers in delivery of public programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements

A bachelor’s degree, or coursework toward a degree, preferably in the sciences or an education-related field.   At least two years teaching experience, preferably in a combination of formal and informal environments.  Experience with aerospace-related subjects including aviation, robotics and space is a plus but not required.

Wage

$20-$25 per hour, depending on experience.  20 hours per week (including Saturday and Sunday).  Vacation benefits.
