Camp Assistant – Full Time / Part Time

Join us to work with kids and aircraft this summer at the Hiller Aviation Museum! Our Aviation Camp staff helps elementary-aged campers to build and fly model aircraft, launch rockets, complete flight simulation missions, conduct flight-related science experiments and more while working behind-the-scenes at a unique Museum located at one of California’s busiest small airports.

Experience Requirements

Assistants must have experience working with elementary-aged children and possess a high school diploma no later than June 2019. College credits, familiarity with science and aviation or previous experience at the Museum are a plus. Assistant positions vary with enrollment; most assistants should expect to work 25-40 hours per week Monday through Friday, with occasional opportunities for weekend hours. Most full-time shifts last 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM.  Candidates must have full availability for the weeks of August 5-9 and August 12-16 to be considered.

Camp Assistants are responsible for supporting Aviation Camp in all capacities. Assistants supervise elementary school-aged campers during sign-in, sign-out and break times and coordinate aviation-themed games during breaks. Assistants also prepare materials and work directly with instructors as needed during hands-on projects and activities.

Assistant positions pay $13 – $15/hr depending on experience. Aviation Camp runs June 3 through August 30.  Applicants should be available at least eight weeks in order to be considered.
