Field Trip Fee Waiver for Eligible Schools

Public K-12 schools with an Identified Student Percentage of at least 30% of students qualified to receive free or reduced price meals under federal guidelines may complete an online request for fee waivers and/or transportation reimbursement.

Waiver Overview

  • Schools visiting with a fee waiver may attend on any day with field trip availability.
  • Not valid for private schools, preschools, homeschools, informal education, camps, afterschool programs, or individual/families.
  • Fee waivers provide complimentary admission and one basic hands-on program for up to 120 students and a transportation reimbursement.
  • All other additional programs and tours are subject to regular field trip rates.
  • One adult per eight children will be admitted free (this includes all teachers/staff/parents, etc). All additional adults are admitted at the field trip rate of $12 per person
  • Transportation reimbursement awards provide for up to $750 per school to help reimburse bus transportation expenses incurred in a visit to the Hiller Aviation Museum. Reimbursements will be made directly to the school or school district after the field trip.
  • Grant fee waiver applications are at the end of the field trip request form.

Grant covers:

Admission for up to 120 students

One basic hands-on program from the following list:

  1. Amazing Aircraft 1 (Gr. K-5)
  2. Eye on the Sky (Gr. K-1)
  3. Flight & Motion (Gr. 2-8)
  4. Flight Simulator Lab (Gr. 3-12)

A transportation reimbursement of up to $750 of transportation service fees.

School is responsible for:

Adult Admission

    • School receives 1 adult admission free for every 8 students in attendance.
    • All additional adults are admitted at the discounted rate of $12 each.
    • Adults include teachers, staff, aides, parents, etc./all adults in party.

Additional Programs (if any)

School is responsible for any additional programs added and/or for programs not covered under the grant. 12-student minimum required. Additional program fees for grant schools are:

  • Amazing Aircraft 1: $6/child
  • Amazing Aircraft 2: $9/child
  • Eye on the Sky: $6/child
  • Flight & Motion: $6/child
  • Flight Planning Lab: $12/child
  • Flight Simulator Lab:  $9/child
  • Star Watchers: $6/child + $35/day
  • Storm Chasers: $9/child

Tour Fees (if any)

  • Tour fees are $2/child, 12-student minimum.

AFTER YOUR FIELD TRIP

Transportation Reimbursement

Grant-approved schools that have completed a field trip visit may submit their transportation receipt/invoice for reimbursement of up to $750 of their transportation costs.

Reimbursements will be made directly to the school or school district after the field trip and after a copy of the bus transportation invoice is provided to the museum’s Education office.  Reimbursements checks will be made in the amount of either the actual transportation expenses or $750, whichever is smaller.

Grants were approved at the time of the field trip booking and confirmed with a Grant Award Letter PDF. Schools should have already completed their field trip with Hiller Aviation Museum prior to submitting for reimbursment.

All transportation reimbursement requests must be submitted by June 30th of the same school year.

How to Request Field Trip

To book your Field Trip experience, submit a request using the Hiller Aviation Museum’s online request form indicating one or more dates. Space is limited. The fee waiver application is located within the field trip request form.

You will receive a field trip confirmation message to verify the date that you have received. Your field trip grant waiver status is confirmed at the time of booking. Should there be any question about your school’s eligibility, Hiller will reach out to you before confirming any field trip booking.
